Initial situation & challenge: Energy supply between security & transformation
As the leading energy supplier in the Jerichower Land region, Stadtwerke Burg stands for a reliable supply of electricity, gas, and heat. At the same time, the energy transition, digitalization, and new mobility concepts are fundamentally changing the requirements for municipal utilities.
The challenge was to present this complexity in an understandable way: traditional energy supply, grid expansion, renewable energies, e-mobility, customer service, and strategic future goals had to be brought together in a single image. It was crucial to highlight both the technical complexity and the regional ties.
The solution: A comprehensive visual overview of the energy future
The Big Picture combines services, infrastructure, and strategic orientation in a clearly structured presentation. Energy generation, grid infrastructure, photovoltaic systems, heat supply, and e-mobility solutions are shown in their interaction.
At the same time, integrated landmarks of the city of Burg make its regional roots visible. The result is a vivid communication tool that conveys both the operational strength and the long-term future strategy of Stadtwerke Burg.
Individual scenes
The scene shows the installation of a network connection for gas, electricity, and heat. Planning via GPS, civil engineering work, and pipe laying are bundled together in a single display.
Construction teams lay cables while employees in the office monitor and control the infrastructure digitally. These scenes illustrate the interplay between network expansion and the digital system landscape—from the construction site to the data center.
The municipal office of Stadtwerke Burg is nestled between the water tower, St. Nicolai, and the northern heating plant. The map of Burg shows how energy supply, infrastructure, and the cityscape are interconnected—and how Stadtwerke Burg is firmly anchored in the region.
This is how the big picture came about
The big picture was developed in close cooperation with Burg municipal utilities over a period of five months. The aim was to translate all relevant service areas, strategic fields of action, and regional characteristics into a coherent visual structure.
1. Analysis & Structuring
Services, infrastructure projects, and strategic goals were defined and prioritized together. This resulted in the development of a draft concept that systematically links supply, mobility, digitization, and climate protection.
2. Development & iteration
The illustration was created iteratively: scenes, content, and regional landmarks were sketched, coordinated, and adapted—with a focus on technical accuracy and comprehensibility.
3. Feedback & Finalization
The big picture was finalized and an interactive click version was created together. This resulted in a coordinated communication tool for print and digital formats.
Effect & Results
Today, the big picture serves as a visual framework for Stadtwerke Burg's services and strategy. It helps to make complex topics such as the energy transition and digitalization tangible and creates a uniform basis for discussions with customers, partners, and internal teams.
