As a municipal utility and service provider, Stadtwerke München (SWM) is a central pillar of public services in Munich and the surrounding area. It supplies the city with electricity, water, heat, mobility, and telecommunications.
With the heating transition and the goal of providing CO₂-neutral district heating by 2040, as well as the expansion of renewable energies, SWM is actively driving change. Photovoltaics, geothermal energy, wind power, and combined heat and power are being further developed, as are smart metering systems and digital infrastructures.
The challenge was to translate this comprehensive transformation into a convincing vision of the future. The image had to be technically credible and at the same time clearly convey how a climate-neutral Munich works – with citizens as active participants, clean mobility, and networked energy systems.
