Initial situation & challenge: Comprehensive guidelines for construction sites and offices

Mainka's goal is to clearly define leadership and establish a common understanding of leadership. The brand essence and existing communication guidelines formed the basis for this.
The challenge was to present complex management principles and guidelines in such a way that they could be understood at a glance and quickly applied in everyday situations—consistently for all managers, in the office and on the construction site.

The solution: a uniform framework, individual leadership

The Big Picture translates Mainka's leadership model into a visual overall structure. Key leadership principles and behavioral anchors are translated into clearly structured topics and placed in relation to one another.
This creates a shared vision that makes leadership understandable, explains connections, and promotes a consistent language. The big picture does not serve as a set of rules, but rather as a framework for everyday leadership.

Individual scenes

Developing employees & strengthening cooperation Employee development is a key task of leadership. Recognizing potential and creating space for further development are just as much a part of this as clear communication, constructive feedback, and respectful interaction. This creates a positive team atmosphere in which strengths are promoted, conflicts are identified early on, and new employees are well integrated.

Clearly formulate goals & provide guidance Clear goals provide guidance in everyday work. They are specific, challenging, and realistic, communicated to the team in a way that is easy to understand, and continuously monitored. Managers take responsibility for progress, intervene to correct deviations, and use the results for joint reflection and further development.

Taking responsibility & promoting safety Responsible leadership is also evident in the way safety is handled. Through clear rules, conscious role modeling, and consistent action, managers create reliability in everyday life. This makes safe working a matter of course and firmly anchors it in daily interaction.

This is how the big picture came about

We worked with HR and marketing management to develop the big picture. We structured and grouped leadership principles, definitions, and behavioral anchors from the mission statement into thematic clusters. The content was translated into clear, minimalist imagery that provides orientation and presents even complex topics such as responsibility, communication, and development in an understandable way. In several coordination steps, the big picture was refined and geared toward comprehensibility, connectivity, and internal use.

1. Content & Structure

Management principles, definitions, and behavioral anchors from the mission statement were structured and grouped by topic. Based on this, a draft of the visual world was created.

2. Drafting the big picture

The content was translated into a clear, minimalist visual logic that provides orientation and presents even complex topics such as responsibility, communication, and development in an understandable way.

3. Adjustments & Finalization

In several closely spaced coordination steps, the big picture was refined and geared toward comprehensibility, connectivity, and internal use.

Effect & Results

The Big Picture helps Mainka to communicate management concepts consistently throughout the company and establish them permanently. It provides a visual basis for discussions, considerations, and continuous improvement. The big advantage is the clear and easy-to-understand visual presentation, which supports managers and promotes employees in the long term and sustainably.

"A holistic leadership compass"

"The Big Picture translates our leadership model into clear, common language. It facilitates internal communication, creates a uniform understanding of leadership, and helps us to consistently convey our attitude and responsibility. At the same time, it strengthens our external image because it makes visible what Mainka stands for as an employer and partner."
Skadi Menne, Head of Marketing & Communications
"The big picture makes our leadership model understandable and tangible in everyday life. It provides guidance for managers, serves as a shared compass, and helps them to exercise responsibility in a conscious and consistent manner. This enables employees to be specifically supported, security to be further strengthened, and reliable cooperation to be established—the basis for satisfied teams and satisfied customers."
